Obituary
Norm was born in Bashaw, Alberta and he passed away at the age of 76 in the Red Deer Regional Hospital after a lengthy battle with kidney disease.
After graduating from the Bashaw School, Norm worked at a variety of jobs including helping his Dad on the farm, hauling gas, hauling cattle and doing some construction, to name a few. He also enjoyed going on roadtrips around the country with his buddies. Then one day he met a pretty young nurse who had just moved to the community to work at the hospital and the rest is history. He and Dianne were married on October 25, 1969 and they had three children. He continued farming and driving truck and later went into different business ventures with his sons.
Norm was a very hardworking, strong, intelligent man. He loved to joke and to laugh, and spend time with his grandkids and he loved to be with his dogs and cats. His dogs Harley and Abby were his greatest source of comfort after Dianne passed in 2016 and he loved them dearly. He remained strong and independent, taking care of the farm, driving himself to his dialysis appointments without complaint, never letting on how unwell he was feeling. He was the bravest man we knew.
Norm leaves behind his children Rob (Sherry) Schultz, Sandy (Chad) Grigo and Scott Schultz; his grandchildren Carly, Billy, Jake and Max; his sisters Helen Bell, Della (Trevor) Thomas, Carol Hackett and Lila (Colin) Eicher; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Dianne; his parents Reinhard and Olga; and brothers-in-law Stu Bell and Stuart Hackett.
Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020.
