Norma Faye Church
1930-2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Norma Faye
Church, 90, of Hillsborough, New Brunswick (formerly of
Edgett’s Landing) announce her passing on December 13th,
2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Edgett’s Landing on March
7th, 1930, Norma was the daughter of the late Clyde and Alice
(Beaumont) Steeves.
Norma was a wonderful Mother and raised her family with love.
Her grandchildren and her great grandchildren were her pride and joy;
she loved nothing better than hearing of their endeavours and
accomplishments. Her faith was a very important part of her
life. She was an active member of the Valley Baptist Church
and was a beloved leader of Awana Club. With a ready and willing
outlook, Norma was happy to serve wherever there was a need. She was a
lifetime member of the Women’s Missionary Society, a
lifetime member of the Edgett’s Landing Women’s
Institute and an active member of the Hillsborough Seniors
Club. A very active Senior, and always up for fun,
Norma could be relied upon to take part in the many activities at
Caledonia Place, the seniors complex where she
lived. She loved to laugh and enjoyed being with
her friends. She belonged to a group known as
‘’The Golden Girls » who loved getting
together and who were there for one another through life’s
ups and downs. Norma held a great passion for
cooking. She was well known for her baking, but it was her homemade
doughnuts for which she was famous. She was always delivering her
baked goods to her family and friends. We know she
is at peace and having a family reunion with her loved ones gone
before. We her family can hear her saying:
« I know how much you will miss
me,
I see the pain inside your heart,
But I am not so far away,
We really aren’t apart.
So be happy for me dear ones,
You know I hold you dear,
And be glad I am spending
Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year. »
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Linda Smith
(Philip) of Edgett’s Landing, Wanda Marsh (Darel) of
Fredericton, Barbara Robblee (Bill) of Shediac, Beth Killen (Mark) of
Hillsborough; and son, Stacy Church (Rachel) of Elgin; her treasured
grandchildren Shaun, Graham, Heidi, Yolanda, Jennifer, Laura, Zachary,
Abigail, Ryan, Joel, and great grandchildren, Hailee, Logan, Jaxson,
Audree, Chase, Calli, Weston, Hazen, Theodore, and her Brother, Robert
Steeves of Lower Coverdale. She will also be missed
by her special niece Paula Millard; by several nieces and
nephews, her church family, and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her
husband Lorne, son Leslie and daughter Marlene, her sisters, Dorothy
Rogers, Margaret Godfrey, Hazel Macquarrie, Betty Carrier, Ada Murray,
and brothers Paul, Larry, Dexter, and Russel Steeves.
There will be public visitation on Tuesday, December 15th,
6:00-9:00pm at the Albert County Funeral Home. COVID regulations to be
followed, masks are required at all times in the building, social
distancing and a limited number of people in the building at one
time. A private funeral service will be held at the
Valley Baptist Church for family and invited guests. For those who
wish to view the service online, you can access the livestream through
the Surrey Valley Baptist Church Facebook page on Wednesday, Dec.16th
at 2:00pm. Interment will be at the Green Hill
