Norma Cecile Block
(née Fleishman),
Peacefully, at her home, on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the age of ninety-eight. Wife of the late Benjamin Block. Mother of Joan (Wayne), John (Patricia), Stephen (Naomi) and Harry. Beloved grandmother of seven grandchildren, Ilana, Eric, Moshe (Svea), Jessica, Shela, Tristan, and Maia and four great-grandchildren, Kiyannah, Matteus, Reia and Bodhi. Norma was equally cherished and had a close bond with her sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and was very a loyal friend. She was always surrounded by her family, which she adored, and held many large and beautiful gatherings for Shabbat dinner and the holidays. She was highly devoted to Ben, and had a marriage to be envied. They loved to be in their cottage in Trout Lake and to travel to Israel, Spain, and California.
Norma was very involved with Meals on Wheels, Hadassah, and her synagogue, Shaar Hashomayim. She had a witty and clever sense of humour and was always playing with words and making spoonerisms. She often used many Yiddish words to colour her language. Norma loved chocolate, really enjoyed learning about various subjects, loved watching Sunday Morning Live and cherished anything regarding Israel. She had strong and clear values, knew her own mind and was admired by everyone that met her.
Norma was a beautiful and unique person, with a funny and spirited Neshama, and we will miss our beloved Norma Cecile. The family would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to her special caregiver, Terry and to her other caregivers, Joanne and Mona.
