Noble’s Obituary
SMITH, Noble Atwood – 89, Newellton, passed away peacefully on Monday October 26, 2020, in Roseway Hospital, Shelburne. Noble was born on April 4, 1931 in Newellton and was a son of the late Kenneth and Edna (Brannen) Smith. Noble enjoyed playing games, putting puzzles together and doing word seek books. He also enjoyed his goose, caribou, moose, and duck hunting trips. He had many adventures traveling with his wife, Olive, and friends. He also enjoyed his and Olive’s camping trips to different places making friends along the way. After he retired from many years of fishing, Noble continued as the Executive Director of the Southwest NS Fisherman’s Longliner Association for many years, where he was awarded the Confederation medal. Noble is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Olive Melba (Ross) Smith; as well as by his children, Christine Atwood, Curtis (Wendy) Smith; seven grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; along with a sister, Myrtle. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son, Loran Noble Smith; brothers, Keith, Frank, Eldridge, Frederick; and sisters, Evelyn, Mildred, Greta, Carolyn. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington, where there will be a visitation on Wednesday from 6-8 PM. The funeral service will take place in H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, at 2 PM, Thursday, October 29, with Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Due to Covid-19 restrictions seating is limited and social distancing guidelines must be followed. Immediate family will be given priority seating. Interment to follow in the Newellton Cemetery. It has been requested there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund.
