Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Nina Gregan (Preston) announces her passing at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 in her 95th year.
Born in Escuminac, NB, in 1925; she moved to Chatham in 1959, where she and Bill raised their family and resided until her death.
Nina is predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) and her son, Laurie. She was also predeceased by her siblings, William (Bee), Harold, Ira, Connie and Erma.
Nina will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her son, Olin and her daughter, Carla (Gordie). She also leaves behind grandchildren, Joey (Terri), Tim (Jane), Christopher (Kim), Catherine (Sohael), Spencer (Lauren), and Tessa. Great Nana was dearly loved by her many great grandchildren, who will miss their visits with her.
Nina was a member of St. Michael’s Basilica where she participated in the Choir for many years. She was a member of the CWL, as well.
Nina had an infectious laugh which could be heard before she was seen. She was a woman of sharp intellect, strength, and principle; balanced with generosity, acceptance and a wonderful sense of humour. She was a dear friend to many and throughout her life she was active with many hobbies, including curling, golf, bridge, cross-country skiing and travel. She could be found in hockey rinks around the country, watching her sons or grandsons playing the sport she loved. Her hands were rarely idle; she spent countless hours knitting, crocheting or sewing. Nina worked in the family business, William Gregan Ltd. with Bill for decades and they were partners in every sense. Her family was that which she was most proud, and she never missed an opportunity to share her love, or her opinion. She was the absolute matriarch of our family and the hub of our lives. There was rarely a family function that she was not at the centre.
We wish to express our gratitude to her loving caregivers, Debbie, Patsy and Wendy, for their kindness, love and compassion. Because of their commitment to treat both Nina and Bill with such impeccable care, they were able to remain in their family home until the end.
Our sincere appreciation is extended to the medical staff who tended to Nina throughout the years and the staff at Miramichi Regional Hospital, for their excellent care and kindness.
Due to the current health crisis, visitation and funeral service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer society would be appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone (506) 773-3492 or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca
