Nellie was a member and treasurer of the Ukrainian Women’s Association – Lesia Branch in Buchanan. Active in her community, she was also a member of the Senior Citizen’s Club 50 and, for several years, volunteered her time as a canvasser of community charity funds. She dedicated her faith to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, first in Rama and then in Buchanan. In her spare time, Nellie enjoyed sewing quilts for her family, sewing dresses, reading religious books, making rugs, knitting, and playing cards.
