Obituary
“Love me tender, love me, dear. Tell me you are mine. I’ll be yours through all the years, until the end of time.”
Peacefully on December 3, 2020 at the Health Science Centre, Moira Measor was called to heaven at the age of 72.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children Margaret (Cory) Popplestone of Portage, Louis (Jodi) Measor of Winnipeg, Daniel (Megan) Measor of Carman, her 11 Grandchildren, Jonathon, Cassandra, Brittney, Caitlin, Brooklyn, Alora, Ethan, Kaidyn, Adler, Willard, Seth, and her siblings Jane Hébert of Portage, and Bridget Bradshaw of Courtney, BC. Moira also leaves her sister in laws Eileen, Marrilyn, and Ruth, her daughter in law Dyea, and numerous nieces and nephews to mourn her. She was predeceased by her parents Jéan, and Margaret Hébert, children Baby Donald, and John, brothers Matthew, Micheal, Thomas, Conrad, Louis, Victor, and sisters Baby Mary, and Caroline.
Born and raised in Portage la Prairie with addresses spanning coast to coast, the baby of 11 children, Moira came into the world dancing and never stopped. If Elvis Presley was on the radio, the volume was all the way up. She had an extensive collection of records, 8tracks, 45’s, and memorabilia of the King of Rock n Roll. We know she must be up there dancing with him now. In her early years, she was a hairdresser and a master at makeovers and permanents. Her passion for music and beauty was profound but it could never rival her love for her family which she proudly displayed in photographs all around her room. No one was forgotten.
Cooking for her family was a work of art and she would spend the entire day in the kitchen, with the music up, rolling the perfect meatballs with patience. After contracting West Nile Virus, she retired at the age of 64 from the Regional Health Authority, a job she enjoyed for 21 years. The remainder of her life was spent living with her youngest, Daniel and his children. She loved being so close to family, and the distant ones were graced with regular phone calls. She was our oracle when we needed advice, and our cheerleader when we needed support. She treasured her memories, and we will always treasure hers.
“And when those blue snowflakes start falling, that’s when those blue memories start calling. You’ll be doing all right with your Christmas of white, but I’ll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas without you.”
Private services will be held with burial taking place at Hillside Cemetery.
