Obituary
Mitchell “Mitchy” Rawson
November 17, 1997 ~ November 28, 2020 (age 23)
Our beautiful boy and loving brother Mitchell Rawson passed peacefully in his mother’s arms and surrounded by family on Saturday, November 28, 2020, after a 6 month battle with cancer.
Mitchell was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and raised in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. He is survived by his mother Glyn, father Morgan, brother Donovan, twin brother Brandon and grand parents who he loved dearly and will miss him terribly.
Mitchell was an easy going person with a great smile and wonderful sense of humor who loved making new friends, watching tv shows, movies, sports and listening to music. He created a very special bond with friends and many co-workers who he enjoyed spending endless hours streaming movies together, playing online games and talking about hockey and other sports. In his younger years Mitchell played rugby and later in life ball hockey. As a keen sports fan Mitchell grew to love the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors as well as the South African 15’s and 7’s rugby teams. Those who he spent the most time with can tell you how well he knew most players in the various sports leagues and could run off their stats. Mitchell enjoyed many sports trips around the world and followed the Leafs to Anaheim and Los Angeles. The Springbok rugby team in Vancouver, England, France and most recently Japan for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Although a baby when he left his birth place, Mitchell loved South Africa and had the opportunity to return a couple times to see family and had wonderful experiences with many great memories. He made an impact on the lives of all who met him, is loved and will be missed by them.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at 2pm in Burlington. Formal notice is scheduled to be sent out to immediate family and friends. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions in the Province of Ontario invitation restrictions are in effect so a Live Stream and/or recording of the Memorial Service will be sent out to all who will be unable to attend in person.
Covid-19 Screening, masks/face coverings must be worn at all times, social distancing and registration with full names, address and contact numbers (for tracing purposes, if needed) will be required for all attending the Memorial Service.
Our family wishes to express our deepest heartfelt thanks to all for your prayers, support, thoughts and generosity during this most difficult time for our family.
We’d also like to thank Pastor Kelvin Honsinger and the congregation from Glad Tidings Church, the doctors, nurses, personal support workers and volunteers at the Juravinski Hospital, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, The Peel and Halton LHIN, who all supported and cared for Mitchell. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to anyone of these organizations. Details can be provided on request.
