Obituary for
Millie (Emilia) Pasemko
Millie (Emilia) Pasemko, age 89, of Edmonton passed on December 25, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Care Centre in Stony Plain, AB.
Millie was born before her twin brother, Fred, on June 9, 1931 to Peter and Katherine (Malowany) Pasemko at the family farm in Redwater, AB. They were the last of six children. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and Peter; her brothers, John (Yvonne), Paul (Dorothy) and Victor; and her sister, Stella (Mike Tkachuk); nephews, Roman Tkachuk, Terrence Pasemko, Greg Pasemko; and niece, Maryanne Pasemco.
Millie moved to Wetaskiwin after attending high school in Redwater and was employed by the City of Wetaskiwin for over 10 years. There she made many life-long friendships. In her 30’s, she moved to Edmonton and worked as an Executive Assistant at the Faculty of Extension for the University of Alberta. During her employment, she attained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976 at almost 50 years of age.
She retired in the late 1980’s and purchased her first home. She was known for her sporty cars and personal style both in her clothes and home décor. Millie had pizzazz….once you met her, you never forgot her. She broke the mold that made her.
Although Millie never had her own children, she was like a mother to many. And, she was a loving aunt to many nieces, nephews and then to their children as well. She died a great-great-aunt in more ways than one. Adults and children alike were drawn to her playfulness.
While living in Wetaskiwin, Millie took up golf and enjoyed the sport for 50 years. She also downhill and cross country skied, water skied, and was very passionate about curling and loved all sports including football and baseball. She golfed and curled multiple times a week until she was 85 years old.
She was a loving and devoted daughter to her parents and looking after them throughout their lives. Millie was dedicated to her family and friends and was known for attending to their need whether big and small earning her the nickname Chauch 911.
The light remains. There are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they have gone, the light remains. Millie was definitely one of those people we were all blessed to have in our lives.
