Milan Mal Sedlak – Kingsville Celebration Centre March 20 2020

Milan “Mal” Sedlak of Wallaceburg, Ontario, born in Sudbury, Ontario on August 27, 1939 passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice in Chatham, Ontario on Friday, March 20, 2020, at the age of 80. Beloved husband to Gail Sedlak (Balkwill) of Wallaceburg. Loving father to Mike (Lucy) Sedlak of St. Mary’s, Jeff (Shelly) Sedlak of London, Connie (Bill) Hall of Wallaceburg, Ricky (Deb) Fox of Kingsville and Robin (Doug) Fox-Nantais of Windsor. Grandfather, Grandpa and PopPop to Aaron (Dana) Hall, Tim (Amanda) McKenzie, Tiffany (Jeff) Morley, Andrew Sedlak, Cory (Jess) Connelly-Fox, Mike Roy, Dustin Baltzer, Misty Baltzer, Ashley Rowan, Ryan Sedlak, McKenzie Sedlak and Tristan Sedlak. Mal will be remembered by several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, including his playful feline companion, Chloe.
Mal was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 188 in Kingsville, Ontario. He was a board member of the Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre in Wallaceburg, Ontario and was the chair of their strategic planning committee. Throughout his life Mal worked on the family farm outside of Dresden and in the food processing industry. He provided leadership and a strong work ethic to anything he put his mind to, whether it was preparing for a harvest or completing a ‘hunnie do’ task at home. Mal was a dedicated, supportive and loving family man. He was patient and quietly taught his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren many valuable lessons and skills, including: appreciating the outdoors, preparing for a hike in the wilderness, building a proper campfire and how not to swing a baseball bat.
He was kind, thoughtful, friendly and respectful, and was always quick to showcase his sincere and handsome smile to anyone he came across. Mal loved sports and was a passionate fan of the Detroit Tigers. He was also the #1 fan for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whether they were on the field, court or at the rink. He also enjoyed his time spent with friends and family at the hunting camp, at Camper’s Cove in Wheatley, at the cottage on Manitoulin Island, around euchre and poker tables or at dart tournaments. Mal would fill any silence with his trademark “la tee da” humming and singing.
A celebration of Mal’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Kendrick Funeral Home, Kingsville.
Those wishing to leave an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, 34 Wellington Street E., Chatham, ON, N7M 3N7.
