Obituary
Michael Shaun Patrick McLaughlin was born on April 5, 1971 in Thompson, Manitoba, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2020 at the age of 49 while working away from home in Edson, Alberta.
Mike is survived by his wife Diane and their two children Josh (Sarah) and Piper, who he loved unconditionally and was so proud of. He is also survived by his little sidekick Pixie and his Grand-fur-babies Holly and Tom Petty, his parents Pat & Linda, his brothers Roddy (Coralee), Kris (Melanie), as well as his nieces and nephews that he absolutely adored: Brook, Alyssa, Makaela, Madison, Jake, Damarcus, Bentley, Aria & Jaxon. Mike is also survived by his in-laws Dennis Pasiowetz, Rose McIntyre, Dennis Jr (Hannah) and Leanne. Mike was predeceased by his grandparents Tom & Rollie Rice and Frank & Katherine McLaughlin.
In 2004, Mike, Diane and their children settled in Grande Cache where Mike grew to love the outdoors, hunting and camping and he loved spending quality time with his family. He spent his career working as a locomotive engineer. He made many happy memories with his friends and family in Grande Cache over the years. Mike was a happy-go-lucky guy who had a heart of gold. He could put a smile on anyone’s face, cheer you up and make you laugh effortlessly. Mike was loved by all who knew him. He was always the life of the party and had an amazing sense of humour. We will always remember his infectious smile, his beautiful blue eyes and his caring personality.
Mike was cremated and returned home to Grande Cache for a Celebration of Life held on October 29, 2020 for close friends and family.
The McLaughlin family would like to thank all of our friends and family for all of the kind words, flowers, food and support that has been provided. We would also like to thank Mike’s work family at Backwoods Energy Services for their generosity and support during this time. Mike would’ve been so moved by everyone’s support.
