Michael Joseph Henley
September 29, 1957 – December 06, 2020
It is with broken hearts and unbearable sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael Joseph Henley on December 6, 2020 surrounded by family and love after a courageous 8 year battle with cancer.
Mike is predeceased by his parents Edward Patrick (Ted) and Margaret (nee Conroy), his brothers John Henley, Peter Henley and sisters Mary Buncic and Elfreda (Elfie) Henley and his father in law Cec Pierson.
Michael leaves behind to mourn his loss forever his loving wife and soulmate Dawn (nee Pierson) and two daughters Leah and Jessica who were the pride and joy of his world.
Mike is one of eleven children and leaves behind his loving brothers Edward Patrick (EP) and his wife Trish, David and his wife Carol Ann, Christopher and his wife Donna and Charlie and his wife Lynne. Michael also leaves behind three sisters whom he adored Cathie Henley (d. Harry Zuurbier), Elizabeth Henley (John Gregory) and Ann Henley.
Mike will be forever missed by his mother in law Sheilah Pierson, brother in law Ray Buncic, sister in law Janet Henley, sister in law Deanne Pierson (Peter Collins), sister in law Debbie Pierson (Dave Lear) and brother in law Eugene Pierson (Jeannie).
Mike is survived by a large circle of extended family including cousins from the Henley, Harris, Conroy and Pierson families as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he took amazing pride in.
Our family would like to express our gratitude for the exceptional care Mike received from Dr David Jones and all the staff of 4 North A. Special thank you to Nurse Practitioner Charlene Downey, without who’s care, encouragement and support Mike would never have lived so long!
Mike was also a long term patient of the Day Program at the Miller Centre with the physiotherapy department. Special thanks to Carla Douglas, without whom Mike never would have lived as well as he did, each step was monumental to Mike and Carla’s encouragement enabled Mike to enjoy his life.
While our family are heart broken at saying good bye to Mike we will forever cherish all our beautiful memories of his life, especially the wonderful moments at our cabin surrounded by family at the place he loved most!
Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations can be made to St Vincent de Paul, Mary Queen of the World.Cremation has taken place.
Michael will be waked from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, December 9,2020 at Cauls Funeral Home , 84 Lemarchant Road with the service from the Caul’s Chapel on Thursday December 10 at 2:00 pm.
