Metro Cherweniuk
It is with great sadness that the family of Metro Cherweniuk of Smoky Lake announces his peaceful passing at the age of 91 years.
Metro is survived by his children, Carol, Sharon (Cam), John (Jane) and Daniel; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Jennifer, Jamie, Brittany (Scott) and Sianna (Mike); two great-grandchildren; brother, Alec (Pat), sister, Ollie and former wife, Shirley. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Domka; granddaughter, Emmalee, brother-in-law, Georg; and son-in-law, Bill.
Metro was well known in the community for his remarkable work ethic, creativity and ingenuity. He met Shirley, his wife of many years, when she applied to work as a server in the restaurant he owned in Edmonton. Together, they moved to Smoky Lake and raised four children. He purchased a building on White Earth Street and opened a second hand store and later a bottle depot, one of the first in Canada, which he managed until his retirement. He was a jack-of-all-trades with a love for learning. Throughout the years Metro accomplished every goal he set for himself.
Due to Covid-19 a Private Family Funeral will take place.
