Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of May Katherine Liddicoat on September 15, 2020. She lost a five year battle with cancer yet she was able to enjoy her life at home with dignity and courage surrounded by family and close friends, doting caregivers and an excellent health care team.
Born in Rossland B.C. in 1926, the family later moved to a ranch in Merron Valley (Twin Lakes) where she and her sister Irene spent their youth doing farm chores, horseback riding and doing school by correspondence. Because she wasn’t around a lot of people while growing up, she always felt very shy. After meeting her husband Arthur at her family’s cafe (Better Eats Cafe) in Keremeos, following World War II, her life revolved around her husband and her two children, Joan and Gordon. She was an avid gardener, an expert knitter, sewer, crocheter, artist and supreme breadmaker. She loved a project. She was a jack of all trades… designing and building furniture, as well as taking on home renovation projects. In their later years , she and Arthur were blessed with two grandsons , Robert and Lorne who lived next door. They also had two special great grandchildren, Jenna and Cash who further enriched their lives. She left her mark on each family member. Despite her quiet demeanour, May influenced those around her. She encouraged and listened to others and was always inquisitive. She asked for very little in return for her hard work during her long life. She was so grateful for the kind gestures of others and even though her body declined, her wit remained.
The family would like too thank all members of the medical team who helped support her during this time. Predeceased by her husband , Arthur of 73 years and her son Gordon. A celebration of May’s life will be held at a future date.
