Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Maxwell Seymour Wirtanen, husband of the late Marlene (Dow) Wirtanen, announce his passing on September 18, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Campbellton, NB, on February 17, 1948 he was the son of the late Harry Maxwell and Patricia Elizabeth (Wyers) Wirtanen.
He was a Power Engineer (2nd Class) having worked at the AV Cell Mill in Atholville for 40+ years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #32 in Campbellton. He and his son Cory enjoyed watching hockey games and would be considered super fans of the Chicago Blackhawks. Mackie enjoyed the outdoors and his time playing golf. He was an animal lover and his dog Tazer held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his daughter Brandi and son-in-law Derek Furlotte, his grandchildren; Kailyn (Bailey), Michael (Tiffani) and Connor, his brother David and sister-in-law Carol along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his loving wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son Cory and sisters Charlene and Kathryn.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). By request, no visitation or service will be held at this time. A private family burial will take place at a later date at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery. Donations in Mackie’s memory may be made to the SPCA, Bobby’s Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
