WELCH, Maurice (Mo) – Mr. Maurice James Welch at Parisien Manor on October 29, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of 58 years to Gisele (née Larocque). Loving father of Cynthia Welch, James (Maru), and Jennifer Welch. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Angela, Michelle, Allison, and Lauren. Dear brother of Myrtle, Herb (Amy), Jack (Judy), and Jean Haas (Wilf). Cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial, with controlled attendance and seating, will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday November 4, 2020 at 11:00AM. Family and visitors entering the church will be required to wear a face mask. Maurice was born in Crystal Springs, Saskatchewan and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan studying Engineering and Physics. He moved to Montreal where he met his wife Gisele and together they settled in Cornwall, Ontario in 1967. Mo enjoyed his career as a teacher in the Engineering Department at St. Lawrence College. He was passionate about sports, particularly baseball and hockey, both as a player and a fan. He loved music from country to classical. Mo played various instruments and encouraged his children to appreciate and participate as well. Mo’s biggest joy came from his family. He spent countless hours driving his children to and from dance, music, and swim lessons. Mo loved working outdoors and was always there to help with Gisele’s garden (making sure her rows were straight). He was interested in his grandchildren’s dreams and was invested and willing to help make them happen. He loved reading, punctuality, and strawberry shortcake.
