Maurice’s Obituary
Maurice passed away Tuesday, January 14, at the age of 81, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He was born October 14, 1938 to Douglas and Stella Hunt. In 1965 Maurice married Lillian in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He was a Stationary Engineer for 25 years at Gulf Oil/Petro Canada, retiring in 1996. In 1973, Maurice received a letter of commendation from Gulf Oil, in recognition of his quick thinking and action during an explosion at the refinery, saving lives and reducing damage to the refinery. He had many hobbies, including: Bowling, Crib, Carpentry, Reading, and Camping, but Maurice’s pride and joy was his family. Maurice is predeceased by his parents, Douglas and Stella Hunt; his wife, Lillian Hunt (Lambert); his son, Maurice Hunt Jr.; his siblings, Bill Hunt, Jean McNeil, and Pam Bennett. Maurice is survived by his children, David (Angela) Hunt, Anna (Scott) Nelson, and Tony (Shannon) Hunt; his grandchildren, Bobby Hunt, Sherrie MacQuarrie, David Hunt Jr., Robyn Hunt, Danielle Hunt, Cameron Nelson, Connor Nelson, Ashley O’Reilly, Curtis Hunt, Austin Bourdeau, and Brady Bourdeau; his great grandchildren Amie MacQuarrie, Aiden MacQuarrie, Kyra MacQuarrie, Kael MacQuarrie, Noah Hunt, Everly O’Reilly, and Harper Hunt; his siblings, Marilyn (Butch) Roberts, Douglas (Betty) Hunt and sister-in-law Marg Hunt; and his constant companion Chi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Maurice will be greatly missed and will always be in our hearts. In keeping with Maurice’s wishes there will be a Private Family Gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made to the War Amps (2827 Riverside Drive Ottawa, Ontario K1V 0C4) or to the Canadian Cancer Society (55 St Clair Avenue West, Suite 500 Toronto, Ontario M4V 2Y7). In living memory of Maurice, a memorial planting will be made by Jones – Parkview Funeral Services.
