The world is a little less rosy today. We are sad to announce that on April 8, 2020, Maureen Gerard Casey (née Greene) passed peacefully away at 76 years of age due to complications associated with Alzheimer’s. She is predeceased by her parents Mary (Carroll, née Meade) and Gerard Greene and siblings Mary Dunphy (Kevin), Gerard (Heather), Cyril (Freda), Joan Hollihan (Terry), and Elizabeth Roberts (Wilf) and in-laws Pete Casey (Gertrude), Bill Casey (Anne) and Ron Casey (Eleanor). Left to mourn her loss are her loving husband, Jim, her children Edwina Mills (Steve), Paul (Cheryl Tucker), and Jill (Gavin Crutcher), her sister and lifelong best friend Edwina Comerford (John), and her sister in Florida, Eileen Brooke (John). Jim’s family and great supporters without whom we would have been lost throughout her last journey include Carmel McDonald (Kevin), Eileen Tucker (Walter), Brenda Grouchy (Bill) and Maureen Casey. Also missing her loving ways are her grandchildren Dan (Mary), Pete (Chloe), Nicholas, Andrew, Breaghana and Hannah. Most precious among those who will miss her is her first great grandchild, Holly Annabelle, whose name she would call long after other names were forgotten. Thanks to all her special friends for their unwavering support throughout the seven years since the disease took hold and to Dr. Mercedes Penton, Dr. Khalid Jatt, Dr. Roger Butler and Treena Snook NP who gave her the best of care. Maureen will be forever remembered and cherished for her kind and loving ways, her love of family and her enjoyment of gatherings with family and friends. She will live on as long as there is a sunset to appreciate, a long walk to be had or a child to be loved. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of one’s choice. A celebration of her life will be arranged after the Covid 19 restrictions have been lifted.
