Obituary of MARY OLGA MACLEAN
MARY MACLEAN
March 26, 1941 – November 15, 2020
Peacefully, on Sunday, November 15th, 2020, Mary passed away with
her family by her side. She is survived by her beloved daughter Ruth and
favourite son-in-law Ronald, her twin sister Kathy and nieces Susan
(Gerry), Trish (Russ, children Ryden and Teagan) and Val (Steve).
Mary was born on March 26, 1941, in Winnipeg along with her twin
sister and soulmate Kathy. She was predeceased by her parents, Anna
and William Melnyk and her brother-in-law Tony Leochko.
Mary spent a large part of her working life at WestRock (formerly
McMillan Bloedel) and retired after 30 years, only to begin her second
career, as a casual employee with Carpathia Credit Union for
approximately 14 years.
Faith and St. Joseph’s church were very important to Mary. She was
a member of both the church and the UCWLC since the mid-1970s.
Mary was a very devoted, loyal, reliable and loving soul who
worked full time while raising her daughter as a single parent. During this
time, Mary also completed night school, played golf regularly and nurtured
her many friendships. Mary enjoyed many friendships from all aspects of
her life, some of which lasted over 50 years.
Our family extends our heartfelt gratitude to Holy Family Nursing Home,
Dr. T. Babick and Dr. A. Babick, blessed Sisters, the nurses, aides and all
staff that helped take care of Mom during this difficult time.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a small family service will take place on Tuesday November 24, 2020 at 1:00pm. Live streaming will be available through the Cropo Website. A reception will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Nursing Home or Canadian Cancer Society in Mary’s memory.
