Mary Theresa Oberholzer
Oberholzer, Mary Theresa:
June 11, 1963 – December 12, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce that Mary passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London after battling complications from throat cancer.
She will always be loved and remembered by her husband Paul and her two wonderful sons, Tyler (Jamie) and Eric.
Beautiful daughter of Peggy and the late Harry Voll.
Loving sister to Chris (Cathy) Voll, Linda (Vivek) Khanna, Laurie (Ken) Schad and Michael (Tracey) Voll.
Special daughter-in-law to Pat and Don Oberholzer, and sister-in-law to Kathy (Dan) Ziegler and Mike (Xanthy) Oberholzer.
Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, and special Auntie Mary to Elora and Eden. She will forever be our Guardian Angel.
Mary loved the outdoors, especially the sun, sand and surf. She was the happiest when she was in the water, swimming, snorkeling or scuba diving, hence her siblings nickname « Fishy ». She loved to walk on the beach for hours, just being in the sun or collecting drift wood and beach stones.
She had a fondness for animals and before her passing, she achieved her dream of owning a Bichon puppy, whom she named « Norman ».
Mary worked in the insurance industry for over 38 years, starting first with her father at Accu Plan Insurance, and then with different brokers in Waterloo Region.
Mary was an avid reader and loved to write. One of her dreams came true when she wrote and published her own book. She wrote many humourous newsletter which she shared with her family. Good times were spent listening to Blues music, shooting pool with her husband and eating chicken wings. Mary was also an accomplished piano player and loved to play boogie woogie. Her love for music was inherited by both her sons.
Mary dearly loved her Family First and Foremost and was especially proud of her two sons, Tyler and Eric. She spent many days playing games and reading to them in their early years.
She always enjoyed cooking, especially her Saturday night rare bbq steak and being home watching her favourite tv shows.
Mary will be immensely missed by her husband, Paul.
Mary’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 17th, 2020 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. Those wishing to attend Mary’s visitation must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling 519-749-8467. Face masks are mandatory.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
