1957-2020
With broken hearts, we announce the unexpected passing on
July 28, 2020, at the QEII Infirmary, of Mary Elizabeth MacKinnon, of
Lyons Brook, NS. Born in Halifax on April 15, 1957, Mary was a
daughter of the late Norman and Blanche MacPhee. She was a former
employee of Royal Bank in Elmsdale, TD Bank in New Glasgow, Store
Front Manager at Lawtons, Pictou, and was a Pharmacy Technician at the
Medicine Shop Pharmacy, New Glasgow. Mary loved to go for sister
adventures « with no destination » with Pauline. An avid horse
lover, she owned and cared for horses her entire life. She loved
country life and the beach. She leaves behind her loving husband, John
« Jack » MacKinnon; son, Thomas (Samantha), grandson, Adam,
who was the love of her life. Also left to mourn are sister and best
friend, Pauline (Michael) MacEwan, and brothers, Richard (Wanda)
MacPhee; Tony (Cheryl) MacPhee; sister-in-law, Karleen Mingle. She
will be dearly missed by special friends, Lisa, Louise and Christine,
as well as many more dear friends. She was loved so much. She was
predeceased by oldest brother, George (Terry) Mingle, in-laws, Wally
and Lola Dickson. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors in the ICU
for their care. Visitation 6-9 pm Saturday, August 1, in R.H. Porter
Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Those
attending are asked to practise social distancing and wearing a mask
is required. Public graveside service, 2 pm Sunday, August 2, in
Sturgeon Baptist Church Cemetery, Sturgeon, PEI, with Rev. Justin Able
officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made
to the SPCA.
