KOTELKO, Mary
It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Mary Kotelko (nee Sapchuk) on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Mary was born on October 25, 1924 in St. Julien, SK to Dmytro and Paraska Sapchuk and grew up in Fish Creek, SK. After completing school, Mary worked in Prince Albert, SK at various establishments including the National Hotel before marrying Steve Kotelko on July 19, 1953 of Alvena, SK where they resided until retiring from farming after 35 years. Upon retirement, Mary and Steve moved to Cudworth, SK where Mary lived until she moved into Stensrud Lodge in Saskatoon, SK. Mary’s family would like to thank the staff of Stensrud Lodge for their care and kindness during mom’s final days. Mary enjoyed cooking/baking, embroidering, gardening, playing cards, and helping others. Mary is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ruth Kotelko of Saskatoon, Bob (Donna) Kotelko; Amy (Mike Su) Audrey and Elsa of Saskatoon; Katie (Scott MacDougall) Parker and Paisley of Victoria, BC; and Dr. Erin Kotelko of Victoria, BC and Sonia (Doug Broad) of Medicine Hat, AB. She was predeceased by her parents Dmytro and Paraska Sapchuk; her husband Steve Kotelko; and her sister Anne Bukowsky. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Cudworth, SK. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Jubilee Residences Foundation (25-2602 Taylor Street East, Saskatoon, SK S7H 1X2).
