Martha Faye Beaton 19532020

Martha Faye Beaton
1953-2020
Beaton (Anderson), Martha Faye, age 67, of Lower South River,
formerly of Isle Madame passed away in St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital, Antigonish on July 5, 2020.
Born in Toronto, she was the daughter of the late Arnold
Anderson and Clara (MacLean) Firlotte.
Martha was known as a very feisty and determined person with
a heart of gold. She made it her personal mission to always be a
helping hand, whether it was for those in her community, for fellow
patients during hospital stays or even to complete
strangers. Following a family move from Ontario to
Isle Madame to become the long-time proud owners of Beaton’s
General Store and later to Antigonish, Martha chose to become greatly
involved in her community by lending her generous time and support to
several community organizations and always went above and beyond in
her fundraising efforts.
Martha had a boundless love for her four
grandchildren. When they were at Nanny’s house,
Nanny’s rules applied and there was always an endless supply
of candy and juice boxes. She was also an avid animal lover
– most notably horses and dogs. Her dog Abby was a
constant companion and wonderful source of comfort for
her.
She is survived by her children, Dorothy (Shaun) Beaton,
Riverview, NB; John (Danielle) Beaton, Antigonish; grandchildren:
Benjamin, Alexander, Gwen and Myles; sisters: Linda, Rhoda, Noella and
Rebecca all of Ontario; brother John `Noel`, Ontario as well
as many nieces and nephews, extended family and
friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the love
of her life, Malcolm, whom she has desperately missed since his
passing last year.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be in C.L. Curry
Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Thursday from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ninian Place on Friday
at 1:00 pm with Reverend Donald MacGillivrary presiding. Burial in the
parish cemetery.
Donations in memory may be made to St Martha`s Regional
Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com.
The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to Dr
Michele Murphy who has been nothing short of exceptional in her care
and friendship to Martha for the last 43 years. We also wish
to express our deepest appreciation to her in-home care giver of the
last 7 months, Julie Naugle, whom Martha often referred to as an angel
as well as the many incredible nurses (St Martha’s and VON)
who cared for her throughout the years whom she knew all by
name.
