Mardie passed away peacefully at Amica on December 13, 2020, a week after suffering a stroke. She was 92 years old.
Daughter of the late Marguerite and Clayton Fitzsimmons. Predeceased by her husband, Robert McLaughlin. Caring mother of Reid (Susan), Susan, Lynn and Tim. Kind grandmother of Alexis, Rob, John, Anna, Peter, Cameron, Michael and 4 great granddaughters. Also predeceased by her husband Stewart Green. Dear sister of Harry and Janet Fitzsimmons and Lynda Fitzsimmons, and sister-in-law of Anne and Jack Forbes. Predeceased by her brother Alex. She will be missed by her lifelong friend Ruth Sutherland, and her companion at Amica, Bill Fyfe.
Mardie was a volunteer at the Children’s Aid Society and then at the Civic hospital for many years. She valued all of her friends whether they were old or new. Mardie really enjoyed spending time with loved ones at Hawk Lake.
Once it is safe to do so, we will gather to remember and celebrate Mardie’s life. A donation in her memory can be made to the Civic Hospital or a charity of your choice.
