Marilyn’s Obituary
SMITH, Marilyn Rose – age 79 of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Greenville, Yarmouth Co., she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Evelyn (Forbes) Smith. Marilyn resided at the Maison au Coucher du Soleil in Saulnierville, for approximately 8 years, having lived previously at Bonny Lea Farm in Chester and also spent time at the Conway Workshop in Digby. Marilyn moved from Yarmouth to live with her sister, Annie (Smith) Cromwell in Weymouth. At the age of 14, Marilyn helped raise her brothers and sisters after their parents died. Marilyn had a lot of friends at the home in Saulnierville. She loved dressing up and enjoyed her snacks – pink peppermints and cheesies and she loved spending time with her family. Marilyn is survived by her only son, Scott Smith; sisters, Annie May Cromwell, Ada Sparks and Leona Langford; brother, Andrew Smith; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by sister, Joanna Brown; brothers, Gerald and Gilford Smith. Viewing will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 16 at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth, where the funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, Rev. M. Alden Fells officiating. Spring interment will take place in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
