Obituary
It is with sadness the family of Marie Lambie announce her passing on December 12, 2020 at the Elrose Health Centre at the age of 85 years.
Marie was born on November 10, 1935 on a farm south of Abernathy, SK to Dmytro and Anastazya Lewicki. As an only child, she spent many hours helping her parents on the farm while obtaining her education at Kenlis School. After she completed school, she attended secretarial college in Regina. It was there she met Don Lambie and they were married on October 6, 1956. Early married life was spent traipsing around southern Saskatchewan where Don was working. On March 23, 1958, Robert was born but tragically passed three days later. Ronald followed on June 24, 1959 and on December 24, 1959, they settled into their first home in Moose Jaw, SK. Patricia was born on May 6, 1962, after which, she focused on raising her children. The family moved to Prince Albert, SK in 1966 and Marie returned to the workforce as a secretary at Prince Albert Collegiate Institute. In 1975, after moving to Regina, she finished her working career as an administrative assistant at SAMA until her retirement in 1984. She and Don enjoyed retirement years travelling, wine tasting, good dinners out and enjoying time with their grandchildren. After Don’s passing in 2009, she remained focused on her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and celebrations whenever possible. After selling her house in Regina she moved into a retirement residence in Saskatoon to be closer to her family. She spent the last two years at the residence enjoying the entertainment and visiting with family until her passing at the Elrose Health Centre.
Marie enjoyed gardening, a good glass of wine, bowling and making muffins for her four grandchildren. Her energetic and friendly attitude will be missed by us all.
Marie is survived by her children Ronald (Marlene) and Patricia and her grandchildren Amanda, Evan, Tyler (Katrina) and Tanner (Paige). She was predeceased by her husband Donald, son Robert and her parents.
A celebration of Marie’s life will be held in the spring at Sunset Cemetery in Moose Jaw.
