Obituary
Mrs. Marian G. Smith passed away peacefully on January 18, 2020 at Rosetown Rose Villa with her beloved husband Gordon at her side.
Marian is survived by her husband Gordon of 68 years; son Les (Joan) of Saskatoon and their family Kayleigh (Brock) Skomorowski, Jude and Linus of Prince Albert, SK and Adrianna (Gillian) Smith of Lethbridge, AB; son Neil (Louise) of Kelowna, BC and their family Lacey Smith of Vancouver and Kristen (Justin) Morrison, Theo and Fallyn of Saskatoon, SK; brother Clayton Wilkie of Strasbourg, SK; brother-in-law Garner Dawe of Wiseton, SK; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Dorothy née Darrow Wilkie and sister Lorraine Dawe.
Marian was born March 11, 1930 at Tuberose, SK the eldest of three children to Joseph and Dorothy Wilkie. She attended school at Tuberose and Whitebear and while still in school Marian worked as a rural telephone switchboard operator. In 1948 she moved to Rosetown where she was employed with SaskTel as a telephone operator until 1956. During this time she met Gordon Smith and they were married on June 14, 1951. In 1972 she joined Gordon at King’s Store and they retired together in 1993. Marian enjoyed travelling, bowling, curling and watching tennis on television. She spent countless hours knitting and crocheting and making tablecloths, in particular one for each of her grandchildren. Marian loved playing cards, especially with her grandchildren and she loved to dance. For the past two years, two months and two days, Marian had been a resident at Rose Villa where her family was appreciative of the wonderful care she received.
A Celebration of Life Come & Go Tea will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Rosetown Senior Citizen Activity Centre from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Heartland Health Region (Rosetown & District Health Centre Long Term Care Activity Fund) P.O.
