Salmon Beach – Mrs. Margaret Doris Ella (Daley) Good, passed peacefully from this life at the age of 98, at her home in Salmon Beach.
Born in New Bandon, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Katie Viola (Payne) Daley.
She is survived by her son, Sherwood (Elaine) of Salmon Beach; daughter, Myrna (Derek Hollett) of Bathurst; son-in-law, Brian Jagoe of Salmon Beach; grandchildren: Kevin, Kristine, Darcy, Myles, Nancy, Bruce and Neil; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Brett, Trevor, Mackenzie, Matthew, Aidan, Acasha and Ella; brothers Stewart Daley of New Bandon and Donald Daley (Elizabeth) of Bathurst.
She was predeceased by her husband Irwin Good and daughter Elsie Mae Jagoe as well as eleven brothers and sisters.
In 1941, she married and moved to Salmon Beach to the home where she resided for 79 years.
Margaret’s life was one of gratitude, generosity and service. Devoted to her family and home, she will be remembered for an open door and open heart, chocolate cakes with fudge frosting, cinnamon rolls and homemade bread. She delighted in her grandchildren and became affectionately known as “Grammie Cookie” to her great grandchildren.
A member of the Anglican Parish of New Bandon, she sang in the choir for 60 years, and was a member of the WA, St. Alban’s Guild and St. Alban’s Altar Guild. She devoted many hours to cleaning, polishing and planting flowers at St. Alban’s.
The family wish to extend their gratitude to her caregivers: Pat, Darlene, Lorna and Nancy for their hours of tender attention, and to Dr. Wade, Dr. Barnhill and to Extra Mural staff for many years of excellent care.
Burial will take place in St. Alban’s Cemetery. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at a future date when family and friends can gather together. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
