Obituary
We regret to announce the sudden passing of Marcel Lake at the age of 52 years.
Left to cherish Marcel’s memory are his life partner Tammi McRae and their children Maggie Lake, Chris Lake (Holly), Rebecca Vesner (Nick), Zach Lake (Lianza), Shianne Lake (Brady), Asheton Hourie, Jennifer Napper, Anna Wasyliw (Evan), Tatianna Hourie, Annya Hourie and Oren Hourie; grandchildren Justice, Logan, Reid, Brycson, Aria, Elsabeth, Alexandra, Maliki, Lucious, Kayan and William; siblings Debbie (Paul) Burke, Bobby (Julie) Lake, Willie (Cherie) Lake and Donna (Glenn) Wettlaufer; sisters-in-law Kelly (Bill) Webb, Brandi Heins, Jessica (Kyle) McRae and many extended family and friends.
Marcel was predeceased by his parents Wilf and Hazel Lake; sister Charlene Ward; brother Marvin Lake and infant daughter Sierra Lake.
He was born on May 26, 1968 in Portage la Prairie. Living here most of his life, he was the youngest of 7 kids. Marcel was a truck driver. Most of his travels took him to BC and back. He met many people along the way creating more friends. He always kept in contact with old friends and childhood friends.
He met Tammi five years ago while caring for our dad; they became friends and much more. Marcel became more of a family man the last few years, spending more and more time with his family, kids and grandkids, even taking them for a road trip with him and becoming a family of 11 kids and grandpa to 11 as well. He also took Chris on a trip or two and now Chris is a truck driver too. They were supposed to go drive the mountains to Marcel could teach Chris how to drive in the mountains.
Viewing and visitation will take place on Thursday, September 3rd at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel from 6:00pm – 8:00pm; a private family graveside service will take place at Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in memory of Marcel may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Blvd, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5.
