Lutie Estelle Somers
Lutie E. Somers, 85, of
Moncton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, January
17, 2020.
Born in North Wiltshire, PEI,
she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Estelle (MacLaughlin)
Campbell.
Lutie graduated from the
Prince Edward Island Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and enjoyed
working in both Canada and the USA. She also worked as a flight
attendant for Maritime Central Airways (MCA) bringing Hungarian
refugees back to Canada.
While raising her family,
Lutie enjoyed activities such as reading, playing bridge, bowling,
curling and was very active in her church. (Brentwood United Baptist
Church; now The Journey Church )
Lutie will be sadly missed by
her children, David Somers and Nancy Parker (Shawn), both of Moncton
and Patti Blakney (Shawn) of Ontario; grandchildren, Kyla, Alexa,
Nicholas, Michael and Rachel; great granddaughter, Larissa; brothers
and sisters, Doreen Atkins, Barb Campbell, Jeannie McCrossin, Ewen
Campbell (Linda) and Trevor Campbell (Muriel) ; several nieces,
nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents,
she was predeceased by her husband, Dale A Somers (2003) and brother,
Robert (Bob) Campbell (2004).
In honoring Lutie’s
wishes, there will be no visitation hours or funeral
service.
Arrangements have been made
under the professional care and guidance of Fergusons Funeral Home,
1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).
In memory of Lutie, donations
to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital, The Journey Church or charity
of the donor’s choice, would be appreciated. Online
