Obituary for
Ludger Carrière
The family announces with great sorrow the death of Ludger Carrière at Extendicare in Timmins on November 29, 2020 at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Gemma Carrière (nee Lacasse). Dearest father of Daniel Carrière (Pauline) of Kapuskasing, Jacqueline Lanteigne (Vital), Nicole Lafond of Timmins, Robert Carrière (Francine) of Kapuskasing, step-father to Jacqueline Pelletier (Roger), Pierrette Martel (Michel) of Kapuskasing, Pierre Martel (Diane) and Luc Martel (Rose) of Timmins. Cherished grandfather of Jean-Marc Carrière (Marc), René Carrière (Fanny), Mia Cyr (Adam), Manon Perreault (Marc), Mona Lanteigne (Allie), Marc Lanteigne (Tanya), Éric Carrière (Kaitlin), Christine Martel (Jean-Pierre), Caroline Martel and Melanie Martel as well as many great-grandchildren. Ludger is survived by his sister Clemence Guerin of Gatineau as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Henriette Carriere, his daughter Elise Blakemore, his son-in-law Guy Lafond, his step-sons Jacques, Jean and Paul Martel, as well as his two brothers and three sisters.
Ludger had a long and fulfilling career as a health support worker at the North Centennial Manor in Kapuskasing. He took great pride in his work and dedicated all his time and energy to making all his patients feel cared for and loved. He was a very warm, compassionate and caring person that dedicated his life to many hours of volunteering at Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. The family wishes to thank wholeheartedly the staff at Extendicare Timmins for their continuous support, their compassion and their prodigious care of Ludger during his years of residency.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 1:00 pm from St. Anthony’s Cathedral. Remembrance donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 11:00am – 12:50 pm at St. Anthony’s Cathedral. Masks and social distancing measures will be required and only the first 100 people will be able to attend the mass at church.
