Lucille Marie Farrell (nee DesRoches) – (1929 – 2020)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Lucille Marie Farrell (nee DesRoches), on March 17, 2020 after an active and happy 90 years. She was the final surviving child of the late John James DesRoches and Katherine LeClair. Lucy (As known to her friends) is survived by her children Colleen (Allan), Michele, Judy Lemieux (Yves), Debbie Warren (John), Colin (Lisa) as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband Colin Farrell, and daughters Joanne and Joyce Farrell. Born in Wellington Station, PEI, she moved to Nova Scotia, laying down roots in Dartmouth with her husband Colin and their children. She held several jobs in the hospitality industry in her lifetime, but most notably worked at the Little Nashville in Dartmouth, which paired nicely with her love of country music. When she wasn’t playing bingo with her friends, she enjoyed spending time with her family, her life-long friend Helen Macdonald and grandchildren (who affectionately called her Nanny Fur-Fur). Many will miss her friendly smile, sassy demeanour and card shark prowess.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation and thanks Dr George Richardson and the many VON nurses who provided care and guidance to enable her to stay at home, most notably her Angel on Earth, Darlene Engbers, and Michelle Williams, as well at the QE11 palliative care team, Marlese Reid.
A private family burial will be planned at a later date. Donations may be made to the Somme Branch #51 or the Canadian Cancer Society.
