Lowell Charles Balch
1940-2020
Lowell Charles Balch, 80, of Highbury, passed
away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. Born in
Boutilier’s Point, he was a son of the late Charles Henry
and Eileen Genieva (Boutilier)
Balch. Lowell was a master plumber by trade. In 1981 he left
the plumbing trade and worked at the Halifax Shipyard as a pipefitter
until his retirement in 2000. In his younger years his main passions
were sports, especially baseball and stockcars. As he grew older, he
enjoyed travelling in his RV to exhibitions to watch horse and oxen
pulls. He was a handyman and could fix anything. Above all, he was a
family man and a provider. He was most proud and happy when with his
family. Lowell is survived by his wife, Nancy (Beazley) whom he
had just celebrated his 58th anniversary with
on September 29, 2020; their children, Janet (Robert) Fredericks,
Guelph, ON; Heather Balch (Scott Harnish), Hubbards; Stephen (Jennifer
Boutilier), Boutilier’s Point; Andrew (Cindy), Coldbrook;
and Sandy (Paul) Bower, Highbury; grandchildren, Alicia (Jeff), Shauna
(Reinier), Daniel (Danielle), Nicole, Carlie, Cody, Brittany (Jacob),
Nicolas, Tyler (Emily), Kurtis (Emma), Kelsie, Chad, Jessica, Taylor
and Scott; and great-grandchildren, Stella, Wilder, Davin, Ryker,
Sawyer, Beckett and Eliza. The family would like to extend
special thanks to Dr. Mark Pennell (Wolfville) and the Staff at
Respiratory Therapy (New Minas) for the excellent care and compassion
given to Lowell. Cremation has taken place. At
this time there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Donations in memory may be made to the Lung Association of
NS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
