The death of Theresa Catherine Lourdes Connell of Miramichi, NB occurred on Au-gust 12, 2020 at her home in Nowlanville with family at her side.
Born August 24, 1927 in Chatham, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ellen (Desmond) Dolan. She retired from teaching in 1990 after spending most of her career at Nelson Rural School. She was a member of Nelson Friendly Senior Citizens’ Club, St. Patrick’s Catholic Women’s League, and the Miramichi Area Re-tired Teachers’ Association. Her faith, devotion to family, and dedication to her parents’ legacy were her guiding lights. The fifth generation Dolan Homestead, on which she lived all her life, always had an open door and a light in the window to welcome all home.
She is survived by one son – Keith (Clara), Miramichi and four daughters – Karen Bray, Glace Bay, NS; Kora Hayward (Rick), Miramichi; Krista (Dean Hirtle), Hali-fax, NS; and Kitty, Halifax, NS; two daughters-in-law – Mariette Connell, Frederic-ton, NB and Yvette Connell, Moncton, NB; 12 grandchildren – Christopher (Cilise) Connell; Janine Nash; Karla (Alex) and Keith Bray; Martin (Hanna), Michael (Ni-cole), and Nick Connell; Andrew (Suzanne), Adam (Liz), Greg (Alison), and Sarah (Ben) Hayward; and Katherine (Greg) Blunden; 12 great grandchildren – Kevin Nash; Nolan and Desmond Wawer; Abagail and MacKenzie Connell; Grayson and Adelyn Connell; Patrick, Jonathan, Jeremy and Alexander Hayward; and Henry Blunden. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Clancy of Miramichi and Louise Werstiuk of Edmonton, Alberta and sisters-in-law Theresa Connell and Margaret Dolan.
Lourdes was predeceased by her husband, Frank, sons Kevin and Kirby, grandson Patrick, son-in-law Thomas Bray, brothers Desmond, Leonard, Jim, Frank and sisters, Mary, Celia, Alice, Dorothy and Theresa.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to all the caregivers who pro-vided such great comfort for Lourdes. You became a very special part of our fami-ly!
Due to Covid-19, there will be no visitation. A private funeral Mass will be celebrat-ed at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Nelson-Miramichi at 11:00am on Sat-urday, August 15, 2020. Donations in Lourdes’ memory may be made to the NB Ex-tra-Mural Program or St. Patrick’s Building/Cemetery Fund.
