Obituary of Louis Joseph Doucette
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend Louis « Lou » Joseph Doucette. Lou passed away peacefully at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by close family on August 22, 2020.
Born in Yarmouth in 1932, he moved with his family to Hantsport in 1964. He worked at Canadian Keyes Fiber (CKF) for 25 years, was a retired member of Unifor Local 576, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion as well as a devoted veteran of the Hantsport Fire Department for 25 years. Lou had a great sense of humour, enjoyed fishing, curling, playing softball, watching Hockey Night in Canada, being “Mr. Fix It”, time at the cottage on Mockingee Lake and spending time with his many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also loved his 21 years as a snowbird spending time in Florida with his Romany Park family.
Lou was predeceased by his parents Perley and Margaret; sisters, Mariette and Vangie; brother, Bud and son-in-law, Bill Fauria. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Rae (Fader); daughters, Crystal Fauria and Rhonda Dyck (Dean), Lacombe, Alberta; Michelle Moore (Vince), Falmouth; sons, Tim (Kathy), Wolfville; Brad (Natasha), Hantsport; brothers, Perley (Betty), Barrie, Ontario; Martin, Yarmouth; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation or funeral. Donations in memory of Louis Joseph “Lou” Doucette may be made to Hantsport Fire Department, PO Box 503, Hantsport, NS B0P 1P0.
