Obituary of Lois Marilyn Habel
Lois Marilyn Habel (nee Lamorie)
February 14th 1927 – January 25th 2020
Lois passed away peacefully in her 93rd year at Laurier Manor in Ottawa. Lois and husband Munroe “Monty” (deceased on December 29th, 2008) were loving parents to Catherine Holt (Ken) and Jane McAuliffe (Ron). Grandmother to John Holt and Brent McAuliffe (Meg), she was Aunt Lois to 8 nieces, 6 nephews and 20 great nieces/nephews. Lois was predeceased by her father Guy Lamorie and mother Susan “Bernie” (nee Hawthorne), step-mother Marguerite and brothers Gordon, Clarence and Bruce. She is survived by brother-in-law Ron Habel (Carol). Lois was a well-known North Bay nurse and lifelong active member of Trinity United Church. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family providing all with her legendary baked squares. She loved to relax at the trailer in Callander Bay, fish with Monty, play cards, and was a long-time member of Club 45 and several bridge clubs. Funeral arrangements are in progress for spring 2020; she will be interred alongside Monty at the Callander Union Cemetery.
