Passed away peacefully at Pioneer Manor with his family by his side on Saturday, February 8th, 2020.
Predeceased by his wife Cecile (nee Robinson) in 1975. He is survived by his loving partner of 44 years Jeannine Gosselin. Beloved father of Richard (Christine) and Carol-Ann Lalonde (Andre), and step father of Richard Gosselin (Bam Fournier), Marc Gosselin (Kathy), Paulette Bonin (Stan Romanyszyn), and Carol Gosselin (Bohdan Skrynyk). Loving grandfather of Devin, Delaney, Natalie, Travis (Kayla), Michelle (Sierra), Patrice, Ryan, and Nicolas, and great grandfather of Brooke-Lyn, Carver and Daxton. Predeceased by his parents Alfred & Marie-Anne Spencer (nee Grimard) and siblings Evelyne, Rolly, Ron, Andre, Aldege, Leonard, Jeannette, Adrienne and Henri. Survived by his brothers Wilbert (Eileen), Robert (Anna), and Roger (Pauline). He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lionel was an executive member of the Caruso Golden Age Club for 20 years. He was an avid dancer and golfer. He worked as a carpenter at INCO for 43 years retiring in 1985.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff, caregivers, nurses and doctors at Pioneer Manor for their care and compassion.
There will be a memorial mass at St. Jean de Brebeuf Church (26 Kathleen St, Sudbury) on Friday, February 14th, 2020 at 10:30 am. Interment alongside his wife Cecile in the St. John’s Cemetery in Garson.
Donations to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
