MIEZITIS, Ligita Velta
1935 – 2020
It is with deepest sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Ligita Velta Miezitis at home with her family by her side on Wednesday November 18, 2020 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of Juris Miezitis and loving mother of Ivars (Line Richard) and Mara. Ligita cherished her grandchildren Kaela, Tyler and Sydney. Predeceased by her dear sisters Erika Reinfelds (Gunars) and Arija Krumins (Oskars). With a heart full of love Ligita held dear numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada, The United States, Germany, and Latvia. Ligita was born in Latvia and emigrated during the 2nd World War through Germany and England before calling Canada her home where in addition to building a loving family she also built a wide network of friends. Ligita was also very active in the Ottawa Latvian church and social community. She always had a positive outlook on life, a sly wit, and most of all a loving nature. It is hard to imagine a world without her, we will continue her heritage because we will always hold her in our hearts. Due to the Covid-19 situation a private family funeral service will be held and a further celebration of life in 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
