Leonard Berger
It is with a great sadness and shock that we announce the unexpected peaceful passing of Leonard early Friday morning, December 11, 2020, in his ninety-fourth year. Devoted husband and best friend of the late Louise Strudensky for sixty-six years. Cherished father of Brian (Franca), Craig (Céline) and Allison (Ernie). Treasured grandfather of Anthony (Leanna), Amanda, Erin, Caitlin, Melyssa (Stephen), William and Jessica. Predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Ruth Berger. Loving brother-in-law of Annette and the late Ben Geiger and Marvin Strudensky. Leonard was a hard-working man who looked out for his family. His sometimes gruff exterior, belied his being a gentle and quiet man – one who reveled in the achievements of his children and grandchildren. He stood beside Louise helping to make their house into a home for Louise, their children, grandchildren, friends and all who gathered there. While the last years were hard on his health, he endured with grace his three trips a week for dialysis where he made special friends. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff who took care of him at St. Mary’s Hospital Dialysis Treatment Centre. The family would like to also acknowledge Drs. Émond and Comeau as well as the doctors at The Jewish General Hospital, and the personnel of the CLSC-Saint-Laurent during their short involvement especially Christian Lafrance. A private graveside service will take place. Shiva strictly private. Contributions in Leonard’s memory may be made to the St. Mary’s Dialysis Unit c/o St Mary’s Hospital Foundation, (514) 734-2694, or to The Canadian Kidney Foundation (Quebec Division), (514) 938-4515.
