Kristine Theresa Lillian Doner Tuesday September 15th 2020

Kristine (Kris) T. Doner (Wlodarek) August 13, 1953 – September 15, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Kris is announcing her passing at the age of 67 after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 15, 2020 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario.
Kris ‘Ma’ will be greatly missed by her loving husband of almost 49 years, Richard, her children Dean (Sherri) Doner, Kimberly (Dean) Cederwall and Sean (Allison) Doner. Her beloved and cherished grandchildren Eric, Brandon, Laura, Isabella and Jack will forever remember their amazing Babcia.
Kris is predeceased by her parents Theodore and Helen Wlodarek, her in-laws Jack and Florence Doner and her brother Edward (Kim) Wlodarek. She also leaves behind her siblings. Stanley (Deborah) Wlodarek, Henry (Mary) Wlodarek, Joan (Ronald) Delorme, Irene Wlodarek, Donald Wlodarek, and Barb (Ross) Elder, her brother in-law Ken (Sandie) Doner and many nieces and nephews.
Kris was born and raised in Kenora where she met the love of her life Richard. They married in 1971 and started their family in 1973 with the birth of their first son, Dean. To better their lives, Kris and Rick moved to Brampton where their family grew with the birth of Kimberly and Sean. After many years away they made the move back to Kenora where Kris was well known as ‘Mrs. D’ from Mrs. D’s Chips on the harbourfront. Kris hung up her apron several years later and spent many years volunteering at Pinecrest Home for the Aged to run happy hour, which she really enjoyed. Kris also enjoyed her time as a lunch monitor at Pope John Paul II School.
When Rick retired, they decided to leave Kenora once again to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They chose Wasaga Beach. They were able to enjoy the beach for a couple of years, watch their grandsons play hockey, granddaughters cheer and play soccer and even do some ziplining with some of them. She loved being closer to her family and watching her grandchildren grow.
Kris was a strong, warm, fun loving, supportive woman with a great sense of humour and full of sarcasm. Her love for her family was felt by everyone. She always said laughter was the best medicine and would spread her smile everywhere if there was no camera around! Kris and Rick loved to travel and experienced so many places throughout the years, with friends, family or just the two of them and, it was always a great time. Kris was an amazing cook and enjoyed entertaining as she loved the hustle and bustle of all the preparations. Kris met great friends along her life’s journey and left an unforgettable impression on so many people.
Words cannot express how much Kris ‘Ma’ will be missed. She is at peace and hopefully making some perogies or cabbage rolls and finding the right table to dance on to Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Glory Days’ or ‘Hungry Heart’
Her family will be holding a private gathering.
