MacIntyre, Kent – It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Kent MacIntyre on November 16, 2020 at the age of 59. At home and surrounded by family, Kent passed peacefully after being diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, in February of 2019.
Predeceased by his father Fraser, Kent leaves behind his wife Sharon, his daughter Abbey, son Alec, his mother Lois, brothers Keith and Ian and sister Inger (Marnik), brother-in-law Rob and sister-in-law Joanne, as well as his nieces and nephews. Raised in Birch Grove, Cape Breton, Kent moved to Guelph in 1987 where he married, raised a family and ran a successful sole proprietorship. He was a devoted husband and fiercely proud of his children. Opinionated, intelligent, with a witty sense of humour and deeply passionate about everything from sports to politics, Kent was certainly never shy about speaking his mind on any number of topics.
His positive outlook and the strength in which he faced his challenges over the last 21 months should be an inspiration to all of us to live our lives to the fullest. As he often quoted, “We only die once, but we live everyday”.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for Kent will be held later. If so desired, memorial donations to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, would be appreciated by the family. Online donations and condolences can be made at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.
