Kenneth John Wayne Pottinger
1954 – 2020
With great sadness the family of Kenneth John Wayne Pottinger announce his sudden passing on April 1, 2020 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg MB at the age of 65 years.
Ken leaves to mourn his passing his brother Murray (Arlene) Pottinger, Brandon MB, nephews Shane Pottinger, Brandon MB, niece Chelsey Pottinger, Brandon MB, nephews Martin Pottinger, Louie Pottinger, niece Mirielle Pottinger and their mother Julie Denoncourt, Montreal PQ, as well as cousins Bill (Myrtle) Pottinger, Neepawa MB, Al Pottinger, Winnipeg MB, Diane(Steve) Keith, Winnipeg MB, Keith (Carol) Pottinger, Gladstone MB, as well as many other family members.
Ken is predeceased by his partner of 23 years Shirley Marriott (Small), his parents William (Bill) and Gladys Pottinger (nee Fehr), brothers Ron Pottinger, Gerald Pottinger, special parents Jim and Phyllis Pottinger (nee Fehr), cousins Linda (Bob) Hall and Gary Pottinger.
Ken was born at the Misericordia Hospital, Winnipeg MB on October 29, 1954. He attended school in Winnipeg until his mother Gladys Pottinger’s passing in 1966. At this time Ken and his brothers went to live with their Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Jim Pottinger on the farm near Gladstone MB. He then attended William Morton Collegiate in Gladstone. Upon graduating, he moved back to Winnipeg and worked repairing typewriters and photocopiers until he opened his own business on Portage Ave in the same business. When that business closed he proceeded to work in administration distributing water and water supplies. Ken retired from working due to his injuries after an accident while riding his bike home from work.
Ken was a kind and loving person with a memory for stories from past years, his Dad’s war stories, life on the farm and the antics of his cats that he loved. Ken missed his partner Shirley dearly and will be once again be happily reunited.
According to Ken’s wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial will be held at a later date
