Kathleen (Kay) Klimock
1932-2019
Kathleen « Kay » Klimock passed away peacefully at
the age of 87 on December 4, 2019 in the Moncton Hospital, surrounded
by her family. Born Ida Elsie Kathleen Duffy on August 27,
1932 in the home of her parents William and Elsie May Duffy, everyone
knew her as Kay. She spent her youth in the Moncton area,
later moving to Paterson, New Jersey to live and work. In
her later years Kay was a « snowbird, » dividing her time
between Margate, Florida and the family home in Lower Coverdale where
her great grandparents homesteaded.
Kay will be remembered for her loving and nurturing spirit,
often putting others’ needs above her own. She
loved to knit and crochet — there are countless new babies who have
been wrapped in blankets made by Kay’s loving hands, and her
gifts of lap blankets to her doctors, family and friends were
extensions of her warm and caring nature. Kay also was a
great cook and her batches of spaghetti sauce, strawberry jam and
rhubarb preserves were welcomed by all who were fortunate to receive
them as gifts. Kay’s sense of humor and love of
practical jokes was legendary, and she loved music (especially jazz
and the old standards). And man, could she « swing »
… a golf club, that is, and she prided herself at having
had more than one hole-in-one.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, sister Helen,
husbands George Klimock and Mitchell Goldstein, and former husband
Vinny Dupuis. Her presence will be dearly missed by her
family: daughter Sharon Dupuis Lewis and granddaughter
Ashley Lewis, both of Riverview; son Gregory (Suellen) Dupuis, of
Indianapolis; grandsons Nick Dupuis and Sean (Jocelyn) Dupuis and
great-granddaughters Mia and Zoe, all of Indiana.
Kay’s memory will also be treasured by nieces Carol Short
and Donna Koziel, nephew John Turi, and a large extended
family.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Kay in the spring and
details will be shared as they are confirmed. The family
wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of the palliative care unit at
the Moncton Hospital for their extraordinary care of Kay and for their
support of the family. To honor Kay’s life, memorial
contributions can be made to Friends of Moncton Hospital
– Palliative Care Unit.
