Obituary

Karl was born in Germany and his adventure started when he came to Canada as a very young child. He grew up in the Okanagan area and left home at 16 to work on a ship for the merchant marines. He travelled to many countries around the world. He finally settled down after meeting his wife Trella and they had two children – a daughter Kim and a son Gary. They lived in Fort St. John for many years and raised their family.
Karl’s sense of adventure came again when he went to northern BC and the Yukon in search of jade. Hewas very successful in that endeavor by finding the largest jade boulder in the world in 1978. He was mentioned in the Guiness Book of World Records for this achievement.
After he retired, they moved to Logan Lake where they resided until 2018 when he moved to Cranbrook. He loved to read adventure books, his favorite author was Clive Cussler. He enjoyed a meal of fish and chips although pork schnitzel was his favorite. He loved to play crib as well, as he usually won.
He was a very sweet, kind, funny, gentle man and he will be greatly missed.
He leaves his daughter Kim Wood (Chris), son Gary Ebner (Barb), four grandchildren – Neil Wood (Stacy), Heather Davis (Pete), Cory Ebner and Geoff Ebner, six great grandchildren – Kaylee, Alyssa, Dylan and Tyler Davis and Jaelyn and Rylan Wood, many nieces and nephews, and his sister Rose Berg.
He was predeceased by his wife Trella and his sister Mary.
