Karen Lynn Ryan (Ryan)
RYAN, Karen Lynn, 1963-2020 – Karen was a truly wonderful girl, whose kindness and compassion was rewarded with many friends, both of the human variety and the animals she cared for as pets, throughout her life.
Born to Ed and Darlene Ryan, Karen was a Port Robinson girl and never lost her rural flavor for life. She had to be strong and assertive being raised with three brothers, Rod, Carl and Ed jr. Her green thumb and love of gardening, along with her often shoeless demeanor and multitude of pets, earned her the nickname “Ellie-May” from her common-law spouse of 30 years, William Morgan. Karen and Bill reside in Dain City, where they were busy renovating their home, until tragedy befell them.
Karen attended E.L.Crossley and chose the life of bookkeeping and accountancy, for her vocation in life. She rose to office management with local companies and used her talents to assist many small businesses, family and friends. She was also the perennial financial officer, by acclamation, for the Welland & District Open Dart League where she enjoyed many years. She had a head for numbers and enviable office skills.
You could always find Karen in her gardens, or walking Manfred along the canals, with her close friend Julie and her dogs. After Manfred passed, Karen and Bill’s house renovation efforts increased until this November, when Karen was struck down by a very aggressive cancer. We lost her December 13th, after a mere 5 weeks. Bill was with her to the end, and would like all to know, she passed peacefully.
The Ryan and Morgan families would like to thank all the caregivers, doctors, nurses, the Welland Hospital, the St. Catharines Hospital, the Walker Cancer Clinic, the hospice at Douglas Memorial Hospital, and all the friends and well-wishers during this trying ordeal.
