Judith Ann Richard Thursday October 29th 2020

Judith Ann Richard (Judy)
It is with profound sadness that we announce Judy’s sudden passing on Thursday evening, Oct 29, in Shoreham Village, Chester. Judy was born April 24, 1943 in her parents’ home in West Lahave, where she lived the first 75 years of her life, and where she was the self-proclaimed “Queen”.
Judy was the daughter of the late Moore and Doris (Conrad) Richard. She is survived by her brother Murray, Lower Sackville, sister Mildred (Maynard) Rafuse, Martin’s River, sister-in-law, Joan Richard, Windsor, nephews Dale (Cathy) Rafuse, Marriott’s Cove, Kenneth Rafuse, Martin’s River, Robert (Lynette) Rafuse, Martin’s River, and Andy (Debbie) Richard, Martock, and many great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her brother Walter, sister-in-law Edith, nephew Tony Richard and twin sister Janet (shortly after birth).
Judy attended the 1 room West Lahave School, until grade 10, then began a career as a seamstress at Creasers clothing factory in Lahave, where she worked until she retired to look after her mother.
Country music played a big part of her life, as a singer, and guitar player, with her brothers and dear friend Wayne Hiltz, playing variety shows throughout Lunenburg County. Her favorite singers were Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline.
Judy didn’t have a negative bone in her body. Always positive, happy, funny and ready for a good joke. She loved to knit, play 45’s and crib, and enjoy a good meal, a glass of red wine, and a thick lobster sandwich (on white bread). She loved sour cream and onion chips, and her favorite colour was blue.
The last 2 years were spent with her new family at Shoreham Village in Chester, where she continued to sing, knit, enjoy game shows, make new friends, and live life to the fullest. She enjoyed having visitors, old friends and new, to play cards and share a laugh.
We would like to give our deepest, heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Shoreham Village. Judy enjoyed all of you so much! She loved the food, the music, the entertainment, and spending time with her new sisters, Peggy and Margie.
Cremation has taken place. A grave-side service at the West LaHave cemetery and a celebration of her life will be held on her favorite day, her birthday, next April 24, depending on Covid-19 restrictions. There will be music!
Memorial donations can be made to the LaHave Volunteer Fire Department of a charity of your choice through the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg.
