A woman of lifelong service, Joyce Marie Tovey (nee Callahan) died in her 91st year. Joyce passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her home.
Joyce, beloved wife of Daniel Richard Tovey (predeceased) is lovingly remembered by her children: Anne-Marie (Michael) Grant, Colleen (Murray) Shackleton, Tara (Tim, predeceased) Evershed, Michael, Daniel, Siobhan (Paul) Lindsay and Patrick. Dear grandmother of John Matthew, Moira and Christopher Grant, Michaela Shackleton, and Darcy Emily Evershed. Sister-in-law to Helen McDevitt, Corring Callahan and Charles Tighe; great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Joyce had a long and distinguished career in nursing including years of service in public, occupational and community health. Joyce’s work with the Easter Seals Society, Alzheimer Society, and her volunteer work with Rotary and the Inner City Home displayed her zeal for working with community. Joyce lived an active and full life which included her love of skiing, walking and her life at the cottage. In addition to her quick wit, Joyce had an impeccable sense of style.
The family would like to especially thank the nursing and PSW staff from Northeast LHIN and Bayshore for their compassionate care. A private family mass will be held and a celebration of life will follow for her many friends and relatives post Covid. Donations to the Inner City Home would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home; for donations and messages of condolence, www.lougheed.org.
