Joyce passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28th, 2020 at Leacock Care Centre, Orillia in her 92nd year. Predeceased by Kenneth Kuhnke, her husband of 41 years. Loving mother to Bette Ellen Boyd (Donald). Cherished grandmother to Brittany Arruda (Nicholas). Proud great-grandmother to Grayson, Adelyn and Esme Arruda.
Born in Trenton, Ontario the fourth child in a family of 5, 2 sisters and 2 brothers, all pre-deceased. Sister-in-law to Ken’s two sisters, both predeceased. Aunt to thirteen nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to the staff of Leacock Care Centre for their excellent support, patience and everyday care of Joyce during her final years. It eased our hearts to know she was safe. Thanks also to the PSWs who came to her apartment.
Joyce was an avid seamstress in her youth. She and Ken loved dancing and in their later years, square dancing. They both loved their cottage on the Gull River and spent weekends and holidays there.
They loved spending winters in Florida where they also enjoyed dancing.
Joyce took, as well as gave, craft lessons. She took oil painting classes in Florida and painted pictures for family and friends, something she had always wanted to do.
As per Joyce’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or service. Family will gather together to remember her passing and celebrate her life.
