Joy Lorraine Manning
1938-2020
Joy Lorraine (Davidson) Manning – 82, of New Minas,
Kings County, formerly of Kentville, passed away peacefully on
Saturday, August 8, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Born in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Kathleen
« Kay » (Farris) Davidson. Joy attended Wolfville High School
and later took banking courses at Acadia University. She had been
employed with the Royal Bank for 38 years, working in branches in
Wolfville, Kentville and Berwick. In recent years, she enjoyed getting
together with former colleagues to share in a potluck and fellowship.
She was a member of the New Minas Baptist Church, enjoyed reading and
attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Joy was a
Regional Representative with the Canadian Cancer Society, volunteering
for many years with various projects including the Daffodil Campaign.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is
survived by a daughter, Heather Manning (Guy LeBlanc), Bathurst, New
Brunswick; a son, Tim (Jane) Manning, Greenwich; sisters, Juanita
(Bill) Clahane, Centreville; Phyllis (George) Heath, Falmouth; Barbara
Holesworth, Lower Sackville; a brother, John (Doris) Davidson,
Greenwich; sisters-in-law, Heather Davidson, Coldbrook and Jean
Manning, Wolfville Nursing Home; grandchildren, Dylan and Addison
Manning; fur grandchildren, Sasha, Sam and Enzo; many nieces, nephews,
extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her
husband, Leland « Herk » Manning; a sister, Donna Davidson; a
brother, Gary Davidson and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Cremation
has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A
graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14,
2020 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. A video
webcast of the service will be available at 4:00 p.m. on Friday,
August 14, 2020. The family wishes to express their sincere
appreciation to family physician, Dr. Colin Burgoyne, the Annapolis
Valley Victorian Order of Nurses and the doctors, nurses and staff of
the Emergency Department and Medical A Unit for their care kindness
and compassion. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory
may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Annapolis Valley
Victorian Order of Nurses or the Valley Hospice Foundation. Funeral
