A long life well lived. “Minna” as she was known to all, was born in Wesleyville, North Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland. The eighth child of Master Mariner, Captain William Charles Winsor (Swain’s Island, NL) and Josephine Augusta Blandford (Greenspond, NL.) “Minna” self-named herself when she had difficulty pronouncing Josephine Mildred. The name stuck. The family moved to St. John’s in 1925.
Minna moved to Shawinigan Falls, Quebec in 1942 and met the love of her life Eric Archibald Planche (1918-1976) together they had three children Ron (Jill) of Niagara Falls, Gregory (Beate) of Newmarket and Christopher of Canmore, AB. Her life was greatly enhanced by her grandchildren Matthew (Melissa), Michelle, Mark, Shelley, Adam and great grandchildren Erik, Austin, Jared, Stella and Ruby
Minna will be missed by her friends and bridge partners in Shawinigan, Beaurepaire, Cornwall, Grimsby, Town of Mont Royal, Dalhousie, Habitat 67, Fort Lauderdale and Toronto. To the joy of all, she lived a great and very long active and articulate life.
Sadly, in peace and at rest, that life came to a quiet end under the watchful eye of her family October 15, 2020 at her son’s home in Niagara Falls.
The family cannot say enough about the wonderful care and support provided by the Niagara Health System, the LIHN, The Niagara Medical Group, Dr. Hogg the Palliative Care team and the super support from all the amazing PSW’s from ParaMed.
In lieu of flowers donations in Minna’s name would be appreciated to the SPCA of Ontario or the Scott Mission, Toronto.
A private family internment ceremony will be held in May in Cookshire, Quebec. Notice to follow.
